For rider safety, we enforce a 13-hour cut-off for the Cohutta 100 event. Riders who are uncertain about finishing the event in 13 hours should enter the Big Frog 65-mile race first. We enforce a firm 12-hour cut-off for riders to arrive at aid station #6. For your safety, riders who have not reached the last aid station by the 12-hour mark will have two options. You can choose the shorter route (90 miles) you will get a finish time that reflects the shorter distance. Or you can choose to continue but your number will be removed and you will be riding at your own risk with no race support.
The last leg of the Cohutta 100 traverses deep woods single-track paths which may be difficult to ride in the dark. The race organization cannot offer any support or rider removal at this point in the course: riders assume responsibility for taking on this challenge. The loop of the Cohutta on the forrest service roads is sagged by race support in case of mechanical / medical issues. More imporatant information.
NO UNAUTHORIZED VEHICLES ARE ALLOWED ON THE COURSE
Only official race vehicles are allowed on the course. This is for the safety of all riders in the event. This is strictly enforced.
SAG AND RACE DROPS FOR THE 100
Each participant will receive ONLY three one-gallon zip lock bags for personal items for aid station drops. All items must fit into these bags, or they don’t go. This includes lights if necessary. (Remember, race course closes at 8 pm.)
ALL ITEMS MUST BE DROPPED OFF BY 9 pm ON FRIDAY, APRIL 23. NO ITEMS WILL BE ACCEPTED ON RACE DAY.
All items will be returned to the Finish line when an aid station closes. All items should be back at the finish line area at approximately 8:00 p.m. race day. Items will be coming back on the sweep vehicle. We are NOT responsible for lost articles. Please double check your drop bags to make sure your race number is on the bag. Also any items left after the race will be mailed at the rider’s expense. Mailing fee must be prepaid.
AID STATIONS
There are six on the course, roughly 15 miles apart. Many wonderful people from around the area organize and staff each aid station (see staff information). These people make a race. Please know that these cycling enthusiasts are volunteers who are there for you. Their job is to get you in and out as efficiently as possible.
NUTRITIONALS
We will have food and fluids at each aid station. We strongly encourage you to use your own nutritional aids as your primary source and ours as a back up because we may not have what you are accustomed to using for nutrition.
